About Me
Steve is an American Tantric Buddhist and Karma-Yogi who began practicing yoga and exploring the spiritual life in his early twenties in Los Angeles. His steady influences have been Bryan Kest (Power Yoga), Peter Barnett (Vinyasa Flow Yoga), and Jenny Brill (Anusara Yoga). In 2002, along with his wife Shirley, he founded Black Dog Yoga in Sherman Oaks, California, and in the years hence led several retreats to Bali. The sweet island is now home for the O’Connors, as Steve and Shirley co-direct the yoga and wellness program at Desa Seni Village Resort in Canggu – Bali. Steve’s personal, fiery, and progressive Vinyasa Flow classes blend power, purification, and specificity, resulting in a rigorous – and intelligent – experience. His classes are acts of service: helping to ignite your vital energy, tone your body, and calm your nervous system, while at the same time allowing space for personal discovery and the heightening of intuition.
